The following is some sense of advertisement according to some experts

Advertisment meaning
  • Kotler (2002). Explaining advertising as a form of presentation and promotion of ideas, goods or services by a non-personal certain links that require payment.
  • Wells (1992). Suggests that advertising is a form of non-personal communication that are paid by the sponsor using the mass media and aims to persuade and influence the audience (viewers, listeners or readers).
  • Wright (1978). opinion that advertising is a communication process that has a very important force as a marketing tool that is very helpful in selling goods, providing services and ideas through certain channels in the form of persuasive information.
  • Rhenald Kasali (1992). Explaining that the advertisement is simply a message that offers a product that is shown to the public through the media.
  • Russel & Lane (1990). They suggest that advertising is a message that is paid by the sponsor and communicated by some media of mass communication.
  • Gilson & Berkman (1980). According to them, advertisement is persuasive communication media are designed to produce a response and help to achieve objectivity or marketing purposes.

  • Whereas in my opinion. Advertising is a mass media whose job is to convey the intent of a company so their products to the community


Advertising Meaning.

  • Philip Kotler (2005 : 254)“Advertising is all forms of non-personal presentation, promotional ideas, promotion of goods or services performed by the sponsor who paid”. 
  • Djaslim Saladin (2007:129) “Advertising is all forms of non-personal presentation and promotion of ideas, the promotion of goods or services paid for by sponsors”. 
  • Rhenald Kasali (2007:9” a static medium and prioritizes the impression of visual messages”. 


  • Dunn & Barban (1996) Advertising is a non-personal communication through various media paid by businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals to use advertising messages that are expected to inform or persuade certain circles who read the message.
  • Gilson & Berkman (1980) Advertising is a persuasive communication media that is designed to generate a response and help to achieve objectivity or marketing purposes.

  • Whereas in my opinion. Advertising is a business enterprise that offered goods become more attractive and make people want to get that.
